Advent 2018 - Week 3

Pastor Marshall Ochs | December 9, 2018

In John 3, Jesus explains to Nicodemus that God loved the world so much that He sacrificed His son for their redemption. Jesus told his disciples in John 13 to love each other the way He loved them so the world would know they are Christians. Loving people like Jesus requires great sacrifice, but it also includes showing brotherly affection and a genuine feeling of love for others. As you listen to this message, pray about 2 Peter 1:7, “supplement your faith with brotherly affection and love.” If God commands us to love as He loved in sacrifice, affections, and feelings what does that look like today?

Advent 2018 - Week 2

Pastor Marshall Ochs | December 2, 2018

In Luke 2:1-20, the angels announce the birth of Jesus to shepherds in a field. The announcement declares God’s intention to receive glory and bring peace. The shepherds, Mary, and everyone present at the birth was overwhelmed with the news. Their reactions included wonder, amazement, treasuring the news in their hearts, and giving glory to God. These should still be our reactions to Christ’s first advent as we prepare for His second advent.

Advent 2018 - Week 1

Pastor Marshall Ochs | November 18, 2018

In 2 Peter 3, the Apostle stirs the hearts of his readers with a reminder of Jesus’ second coming. He talks about the long wait we will endure, how critics of Jesus will mock us, and how all things will be made new. As we study this chapter pay attention to verse 11 where Peter asks, “what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness.” If we know Jesus is coming back, what are we doing to prepare?

1 Peter - Week 5

Pastor Marshall Ochs | November 11, 2018

In 1 Peter 5, the Apostle explains how healthy church leadership is one of God’s gifts to His church. Elders create an atmosphere of servanthood in the local church and lead people with a thankful heart. This builds trust among church family members and pleases Jesus. As we read through this chapter, notice the weight that is placed on the shoulders of church leaders and pray for them.

1 Peter - Week 4

Pastor Marshall Ochs | November 4, 2018

In 1 Peter 4, the Apostle explains how following Jesus brings various levels of suffering and persecution. This suffering should not be a surprise to Christians. Instead, it should cause us to rejoice because it reminds us we are following Jesus and living holy. As we read through this chapter, notice how Peter contrasts suffering for Jesus and suffering because of evil.
