In this message, Pastor Lyell Walker teaches from Matthew 22. What we learn in this chapter is that there is an expectation that members of God’s kingdom must wear certain garments, that we should offer our lives up as sacrifices, and that we shouldn’t be like the Sadducees by denying the power of God. Jesus ends his discussion with the religious leaders by asking them a question that still applies to us today, ”What do you think about the Christ?”
In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from Matthew 21. This chapter includes the triumphal entry and Jesus’ judgment on the wicked leadership in Israel. We learn Jesus was the cornerstone that the builders rejected, and we either fall on that stone to be broken, or that stone will crush us; either way, everyone will encounter the rock of ages.
In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from Matthew 20. This is the final chapter before Jesus enters Jerusalem, and He spends time re-educating His disciples on the subject of status. The disciples are very concerned about position and who should receive a seat of honor, but Jesus redirects their enthusiasm to serving. In God’s kingdom, the last are first, and the first are last.
In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from Matthew 19. This chapter covers challenging topics like marriage, sexuality, family, and money. Jesus re-educates His disciples as they travel toward Jerusalem to view these topics from a Biblical perspective. Culture is often the source for how we view these topics, but God desires something different for His people. We must surrender our thoughts for God's thoughts and think as He does on these topics.
In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from Matthew 18. This chapter describes a framework for how Christians should view children and how they should love each other. The Bible is filled with family language and this chapter of Matthew reminds us of the rich community we share as a family. We should strive to put issues of contention to bed, live in unity together, and value all human life.
Today is Resurrection Day; praise Jesus! In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from Matthew 17 about the struggle of suffering and faith. The early church disciples heard Jesus teach about His resurrection many times, but none of them were the first to the empty tomb on Easter Sunday. Even after Mary told them about the resurrection, many still did not believe. They were afraid of suffering and had little faith that Jesus was faithful. Suffering and doubt are two struggles that modern disciples wrestle with, and this message addresses those issues.
