The Gospel of John - Week 9

Pastor Marshall Ochs | March 3, 2019

This week, Pastor Marshall reads through John 9. In this chapter, Jesus heals a blind man, and the man is questioned in front of a religious counsel because he was healed on the Sabbath. The man is ultimately released from the questioning and later sees Jesus for the first time. The man confesses his belief in Jesus and worships. This story reminds us that genuine worship comes from a clear view of Jesus.

The Gospel of John - Week 8

Pastor Marshall Ochs | February 24, 2019

This week, Pastor Marshall reads through John 8 and shows how Jesus addressed sin in the life of an adulterous woman and the religious leaders. Jesus shows them both grace but requires obedience to “sin no more.” As Christians, we often build our convictions on what we think Jesus was trying to say, rather than what Jesus taught. In this chapter, Jesus is clear that sin is a slave master. If you want to be free, you must turn from sin and allow Jesus to set you free.

The Gospel of John - Week 7

Pastor Marshall Ochs | February 17, 2019

This week, Pastor Marshall reads through John 7 and shows how the writer contrasted the unbelief of Jesus’ brothers with the unbelief of the Jewish crowd. The crowd was guilty of rejecting Jesus, but the brothers were guilty of believing in the wrong Jesus. The unbelief of Jesus’ brothers still lives in many churches today because we are often guilty of creating a new version of Jesus in our image. This new version of Jesus doesn’t require us to repent of sin or obey the Bible and leaves us with a false sense of salvation before God. John is exposing this idolatry in our heart, and calling us to follow the real Jesus.

The Gospel of John - Week 6

Pastor Marshall Ochs | February 10, 2019

In this message, Pastor Marshall reads through John 6 where Jesus feeds the five thousand, walks on water, and teaches about the bread of life. In this chapter, Jesus tests the faith of His disciples and clearly explains how we should view our relationship with Him; He is our spiritual nourishment and the only way to God. This message was as divisive in the first century as it is today.
