The Gospel According to Mark - Week 15

Pastor Marshall Ochs | April 12, 2020

In this message, Pastor Marshall finishes our study in Mark by teaching from Mark 16. This chapter covers the resurrection of Jesus and the Great Commission. On the first Easter, a few women went to the tomb to anoint the body of Jesus. Instead of finding Jesus, they found an angel who encouraged them with the words, “He rose from the dead, just as He said.” This was the first encouragement to the early church, and it should still be an encouragement to us. No matter what happens in this world, we can be filled with joy because Jesus will do what He said.

The Gospel According to Mark - Week 14

Pastor Marshall Ochs | April 5, 2020

In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from Mark 15. This chapter covers Jesus’ trial before Pilate and the crucifixion. These were the most difficult hours for Jesus, but through this pain God provided a way for all mankind to be reconciled back to God. In these final hours of Jesus’ life, we are reminded that God’s perspective is more valuable than the world’s perspective. Everyone looking up at the cross on Good Friday was convinced evil was victorious. However, from Jesus’ perspective looking down from the cross the perspective was victory. In these difficult times, pray for God to give you His perspective so your hope is in Him and not this world.

The Gospel According to Mark - Week 13

Pastor Marshall Ochs | March 29, 2020

In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from Mark 14. This chapter covers the last supper, the prayer in Gethsemane, the betrayal, and Jesus’ trial. The final hours of Jesus’ life remind us that none of these events happened by accident or coincidence. Everything was designed by God for His glory and our good. This message is meant to bring us comfort when we face tribulation and sorrow. Jesus is familiar with sorrow, disappointment, loneliness, and betrayal. When we pray to Him, we can be confident that our prayers are heard and understood. Take your pain, worry, and sadness to Jesus; He understands and He can heal your wounds.

The Gospel According to Mark - Week 12

Pastor Marshall Ochs | March 22, 2020

In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from Mark 13-14. Jesus taught the disciples what the world should expect as it approaches the second coming of Christ. There will be rumors of war, famine, and tribulation like never seen. Leading up to this great tribulation, Jesus promised signs that He was near. These signs are meant to excite the church and encourage us to get increasingly serious about building God’s kingdom. During this time of uncertainty and panic, followers of Jesus should increase servanthood, worship, study, and prayer. We should not be overcome will fear, but overwhelm our world with God’s love.

The Gospel According to Mark - Week 11

Pastor Marshall Ochs | March 15, 2020

In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from Mark 12. Jesus taught a parable about a vineyard and tenants that acted more like owners than stewards. This contrast of ownership vs. stewardship continues through the rest of the chapter. Israel forgot their responsibility to steward God’s resources and became selfish in their ownership of worldly possessions. Jesus exposed this sin by connecting it to their lack of Bible knowledge. This message applies to us because we are also stewards of God’s resources and ambassadors for His kingdom. Each person will give an account before God on how faithfully we managed His resources and obeyed His words. Our prayer is that you will not be embarrassed on that day.

The Gospel According to Mark - Week 10

Pastor Marshall Ochs | March 8, 2020

In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from Mark 11. Jesus entered Jerusalem to celebrate His final Passover and cursed a fig tree for being unfruitful. The fig tree was a symbol of Israel and their rejection of Jesus as king. The tree was covered in leaves but had no signs of bearing fruit. In the same way, Israel was covered in the leaves of religion but lacked the spiritual fruit that comes from maturity in God. This chapter exposes our individual spiritual hypocrisies and convicts us to repent.

The Gospel According to Mark - Week 9

Pastor Marshall Ochs | March 1, 2020

In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from Mark 10. In this chapter, Jesus teaches on divorce, children, wealth, and power. The kingdom of this world has a way of thinking about these things, but God’s perspective is different. Followers of Jesus are instructed to view marriage as a covenant, children as a blessing, wealth as God’s provision, and power as leverage to serve others. Seeing these principles from heaven’s perspective requires our eyes to be opened through the power of the Holy Spirit. Our prayer is that the cry of Bartimaeus becomes our prayer, “Heal our blindness so we can see things the way You do!”

The Gospel According to Mark - Week 8

Pastor Marshall Ochs | February 23, 2020

In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from Mark 9. In this chapter, Jesus transfigures and speaks with Moses and Elijah, helps a father with unbelief, and teaches the disciples about servant leadership. These stories teach us about the dangers of building memorials to spiritual high-points, how to combat doubt in our spiritual walk, and the importance of following Jesus’ model for leadership. Our prayer is that this message challenges you to grow as a disciple and be conformed into Christ’s image.
