Revelation 15-16

Pastor Marshall Ochs | October 23, 2022

In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from Revelation 15-16. These chapters reveal the final judgments on earth in the form of 7 bowls of wrath. These bowls are poured out against the kingdom of the beast and all those who follow the dragon. The intense imagery reminds us that God has a date set for the end of history, and there is nothing we can do to avoid it. We must surrender to the lamb or suffering the consequences of rebellion.

Reflect

  1. Read Revelation 15:1-4. Will you meditate, pray, sing, and speak the song of Moses? Thank God for His marvelous deeds. Thank Him for the righteous acts that He has done in your life. Spend time meditating on our God's greatness, holiness, and mightiness.

  2. In reading Revelation 15-16, does it bring you emotions of fear or security? The imagery points us back to how God delivered His people from Egypt.

  3. Revelation 16:15 Jesus says, "Look, I come like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake and remains clothed, so as not to go naked and be shamefully exposed." Are you spiritually awake? How can you prepare for that day?

  4. We see in these passages God's justice gives those who have rejected Him what they want. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal if there is anything your flesh continues to insist on having, surrender every desire, and ask Him to rid you of all desires that are not from Him.

  5. Is there someone God has placed on your heart to share what He has done in your life? Will you ask Him for boldness to share your hope in Jesus?

Revelation 14

Pastor Marshall Ochs | October 16, 2022

In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from Revelation 14. This chapter shifts focus from the followers of the dragon to the followers of the lamb. The vision also includes three angelic declarations, and a picture of the end time harvest during the return of Jesus. The end of this chapter is very graphic. It is meant to create a sense of urgency for the mission of discipleship, and bring comfort to those who are suffering.

Reflect

  1. As we have been studying Revelation, we are reminded that there are only two teams – team Lamb and team dragon. If you were asked today which team you are on, could you with certainty say that you are on team Lamb?

  2. John tells us that he saw 144,000 people with Jesus on Mt. Zion. (see Revelation 7 for further explanation) These represent the entire family of God, who are worshipers of Jesus and are marked by God as His people. This is a group of people who are ready for their Christ – as a bride is ready for her husband. How are you preparing yourself for Christ and His return?

  3. Those who belong to the Lord sing loudly the song of salvation, and they follow Him wherever He goes. They have kept themselves pure by not giving into the idols of this world (i.e., power, wealth, sexual immorality, etc.) Those who follow the dragon have made friends with this world and have a lifestyle that is filled with idols, and immorality. Does your lifestyle reflect team Lamb? Pray and ask the Lord to reveal any areas of your life that do not line up with His will.

  4. In Revelation 14:6-13 we see three angels with very clear proclamations. The first is the invitation for all people to join the Lamb. The second is declaring that this world will fall. The third is that those who have chosen team dragon will suffer the full wrath of the Lamb – eternal torment. These three proclamations are followed with a call to endure in your faith. How does the gospel, the fall of Babylon and eternal punishment for wickedness encourage us to endure in the faith?

  5. The Harvest is coming! For the followers of Christ this will be a great experience. Those who are on team dragon and refused to follow the Lamb will be destined for suffering. In the face of possibly dying for your faith, how certain are you that you would choose to stand firm and endure?

  6. We’re not promised tomorrow, so we must decide today who we will follow and who we will stand for. We are called to be witnesses for Him to others. Not everyone will say yes to Jesus. This will be awful for them in the end times. Pray and ask the Lord who He is putting in your life to share the message of Jesus with. It is the message of life or death.

Revelation 13

Pastor Marshall Ochs | October 9, 2022

In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from Revelation 13. This chapter reveals the dragon’s plan to imitate the Trinity with a beast from the waters and a beast from the land. The first beast is an imposter of Jesus who calls the nations to worship the dragon. The second beast is an imposter Holy Spirit who validates and spreads the worship of the beast. These two beasts will rise up before the return of Jesus, but they already cast a shadow that extends back to the 1st century. This vision is meant to prepare every church, in every season, to keep the faith and live without fear.

Reflect

  1. The Beast is coming as a counterfeit Jesus; verse two describes Satan giving him his power, throne, and authority. Satan gives temporary satisfaction, whereas we find eternal salvation through Jesus. Are there any ways you are living for momentary gratification?

  2. Knowing that the dragon’s goal is to impersonate the Trinity, to deceive mankind, are you feeding on God’s Word daily to fight the schemes of the deceiver? Are there any lies that you have believed? Does the way you live align with what you say you believe? How do you spend your money and time, and what do you consume?

  3. God’s mark on His people is symbolic, is your mind set on Jesus, and do your hands do the work of Jesus?

  4. Understanding what John has written in Revelation will happen on this earth, are you preparing for what will come? How are you preparing? What might need to change in your life?

  5. Do you live in a way where the people you encounter daily see a lampstand and a follower of Jesus? Will you pray and ask God to give you opportunities to share the hope you have in Jesus?

Revelation 12

Pastor Marshall Ochs | October 2, 2022

In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from Revelation 12. This chapter reveals a vision that gives context for the entire world rebelling against the lamb. Why do the nations rage? Why is mankind so set on denying the lordship of Jesus? The answer comes from a war that is raging behind the scenes. A dragon, and his demonic army, is furious about losing positions of power. They have started a war against God and His followers, and much of the destruction we see everyday is credited to him. This vision gives us context and language that describes things we see everyday, but through a brand new lens.

Reflect

  1. There is a spiritual war that has been waged against God’s people by the dragon since Christ ascended to the throne. We do not fight this war with physical weapons, but rather with spiritual ones. (i.e., scripture, prayer, worship, holiness, evangelism) What weapons are you using to fight against the enemy?

  2. One of the best ways to combat the enemy is to know your testimony. If you were asked to share your testimony, what would you say?

  3. The wilderness is a contrast to the city. The wilderness is the place where we see God’s provision and our faith is increased. The city is the world and the enemy’s attempts to lure us away from God. Are you experiencing a wilderness moment in your life? To whom or what are you looking to for provision and answers?

  4. The enemy is attacking individual followers of Jesus in order to wreak havoc on the earth. Our flesh likes sin! (1 Peter 2:11) The enemy (dragon) tempts us where we are prone to be the weakest. What areas of sin are you struggling with? (i.e., gossip, anger, addiction, pride, sexual sin, etc.) Pray and ask the Lord to reveal any area in your life that is not in line with His will.

  5. We must put on the full armor of God daily! (Ephesians 6:10-18) We must put our flesh (sinful nature) to death! Pray and ask the Lord to help you turn from whatever is holding you back from having a life that is spiritually abundant.

Revelation 10-11

Pastor Marshall Ochs | September 25, 2022

In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from Revelation 10-11. These chapters cover the moment John eats the little scroll and finds it sweet in his mouth, but bitter in his stomach. This scene leads into a vision of God’s people during the final days of tribulation, just before the Lord returns at the final trumpet sound. The imagery reveals God’s persevering people through difficult seasons of suffering, and God’s faithfulness in tribulation.

Reflect

  1. Read Revelation 10:1-11 and Ezekiel 3:1-3. John is told to consume the scroll and preach it. What are you eating daily? Is it the Word of God, social media, news, or television? Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal what you are consuming.

  2. Read Revelation 11:1-14. According to verse 3, what is the mission of the two witnesses? Spend time reflecting on your assignment.

  3. Read Revelation 11:15-19. What is the response of the twenty-four elders (verses 16-17)?

  4. Spend time in prayer asking the Holy Spirit to reveal if you are wrapped up in things that do not matter. What will your response be to His revelation?

  5. Do you believe the lies of the deceiver? Maybe your eyes are on the wrong things, consuming things of this world instead of God’s Word, perhaps living in fear. Will you surrender everything to Him and walk in obedience? How is God speaking to you? What bold prayers will you pray?

Revelation 8-9

Pastor Marshall Ochs | September 18, 2022

In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from Revelation 8-9. These chapters cover the first six trumpet declarations over mankind. The nations have rebelled against the lamb’s authority and the consequences impact all creation.

Reflect

  1. Humanity has formed its own gods that they give their affection, time, and trust. God will cut the legs out of under the things man has put their trust in. What have you put your trust in that is not God?

  2. God is giving the nations a wake-up call; stop trusting in things other than Me. But the nations refuse to repent. What means do you think God is using today to call people to repentance?

  3. Are there any idols you have worshipped for so long that you have become like those idols?

  4. What might God be utilizing in your life to call you to repent of a particular sin? Ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart and reveal sin in your life. Then, may our only response to His revelation be to fall on our faces, repent and ask Jesus to cleanse us from our unrighteousness.

  5. There is never a better time to share the gospel with those around us than now. Will you ask the Holy Spirit to give you His boldness to share the hope you have in Jesus Christ?

Revelation 7-8

Pastor Marshall Ochs | September 11, 2022

In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from Revelation 7-8. These chapters cover the sealing of the 144,000 and the breaking of the seventh seal. These chapters remind us that God marks His people for possession and protection, fulfills His promises to a thousand generations, and answers prayer in powerful ways. These realities are true for God’s people in the last days and they are true for God’s people today.

Reflect

  1. Spend time in prayer, asking the Holy Spirit to open your eyes and heart to what He has to teach you this week. May this always be where we start. Read Revelation 7:1-3, Isaiah 11:12, Ezekiel 7:2, Jeremiah 49:36, and Daniel 8:8. What do these passages reveal about God's power and mercy?

  2. Read Ezekiel 9; what does this passage show about God as a just God and His great love for His people who mourn over sin? So may the prayer of His people be, open our eyes to the wonder of God's Word and change us through an extraordinary sight of His glory.

  3. Read Revelation 7:4-12, picture in your mind all the angels standing around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures (verses 10,12); read the words aloud and join in the songs of the multitude and the angels. How does this impact you? Will you meditate on this sight and allow this meditation to replace whatever is weighing you down this week? Allow this scripture to keep your heart and mind fixed on Jesus and not things of this world.

  4. Read Revelation 7:13-17, will you be standing before the throne in a white robe cleansed by the blood of the Lamb? Meditate on the promises of God in verses 15-17. He will shelter us with His presence, we will never hunger or thirst again, He will lead us to springs of living water, and every tear will be wiped away.

  5. Read Revelation 8:1-5; what does this vision say to you as you think about your prayers? Will you let this impact how you pray?

Revelation 6

Pastor Marshall Ochs | September 4, 2022

In this message, Pastor Marshall teaches from Revelation 6. This chapter covers the first six seals of the lamb’s scroll. As the lamb breaks each seal, He exercises His authority over the earth. The earth rejects His authority and the result is trials and tribulations. The trials take the form of antichrists, war, famine, death, and martyrs. The vision of these broken seals are meant to grip His people with a sense of urgency and a desire to stay faithful to the lamb.

Reflect

  1. Read Revelation 6:9-11, the martyrs are eager for God to bring justice to the earth, but God tells them to wait. Ask the Holy Spirit to strengthen your faith in His perfect timing. God’s timing is perfect, and no suffering for Jesus is wasted.

  2. Reflect on these verses. The truth is judgment is coming, and we are living in the last days; are you living with this as a reality? Does this grip your heart, mind, and soul to live in complete obedience to Jesus?

  3. Read Revelation 6:12-17 and Matthew 24:29-31; why do you suppose God gave us this specific Scripture? Are you living through the lens that the trumpet call is coming? Are there any ways you would live differently if you truly viewed now as the last days? Spend time in prayer asking the Holy Spirit to speak to you through His Word.

  4. Prayerfully read Acts 2:17, 1Peter 1:20, Hebrews 1:1-2, 1 John 2:18. It is the last days, and God declared that He would pour out His Spirit. Will you ask Him to pour out His Spirit on Red Hills Church, for His sons and daughters to prophesy, young men to see visions, and old men to dream? Will you pray for us to see the fiery eyes of Jesus, to live through the power of the Holy Spirit, and to walk in complete obedience?
