The Book of Judges
This message series examines the life of Israel after the death of Joshua. Israel refused to obey God by clearing out the inhabitants of the land, and those nations became a thorn in Israel’s side. A pattern developed with Israel in the book of Judges where they would turn to sin, become slaves to foreign kings, cry out to God for deliverance, experience salvation at the hand of a Judge, live in peace, and quickly return to sin. As we study this book, the parallels between Israel and the church become clear. Christians are expected to put our sin to death daily, just like Israel was commanded to clear the Promise Land. If we partially obey God and repent for some areas of sin, but leave other areas of our heart untouched by God’s grace, we run the risk of the same cycle of sin Israel experienced. As you listen to his series, pray that the Holy Spirit shows you all areas of your life that need transformation and surrender to God completely.
